Tommie Turvey – January 29-30, Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN and February 13, Nationwide Arena, Columbus, OH
Tommie Turvey travels the world performing in front of hundreds of thousands of people each year with his unique style of horsemanship and training abilities. Turvey performs his signature acts to sold out crowds at many of the biggest shows in North America, including the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. His bay and white American Paint Horse, “Pokerjoe” is the star of the outfit. He is well known for his comedy antics, black mane, white tail, and is the most requested and remembered equine act around.
In addition to being the most sought after entertainer in the industry, Turvey is in high demand as a clinician for his no-nonsense training ideals. As a professional stuntman and trainer, he has appeared with his horses in many major motion pictures including: Jonah Hex, The Dark Night, Larry the Cable Guy’s Witless Protection, and HBO’s John Adams. Gerardo ‘Jerry’ Diaz is a fourth generation charro, continuing the traditions that originated with his great grandfather over 150 years ago. Jerry is recognized around the world for his expertise in horsemanship and dedication to the Charro traditions. He is a director and lifetime member of the National Western Stock Show, which features his productions, The Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza and the Evening of Dancing Horses. A Charro (pronounced Cha ’ro) is a skilled Mexican horseman whose origins date back to the 17th century. The charro, who developed customs, dress, music and equestrian skills later borrowed by the American cowboy, dress in traditional costume and are skilled in horsemanship, bull riding, horse and steer roping and trick roping.

Dennis will give a brief horse training demonstration prior to both performances. Dennis and Kickstart, the Mustang have become fan favorites conducing demonstrations at numerous community events as well as horse shows and exhibitions across the country. Dennis has developed his unique training program over the last 29 years. His passion with each and every horse he works with, and rider as well, is to make both the best they can be. His ultimate goal is riding good horses, making good riding horses and making good riders. Dennis, a native of Idaho, lives in Morton, MN, with his wife Michelle, where they own and operate a training and boarding facility, Redwood Stables.
